Differential Chevrolet

What is the differential service all about?

Turning your car on a corner, driving at certain angles, and managing these tasks at certain speeds require a unique part to conduct these movements. These are known as the differentials. Each Chevrolet model is equipped with them in order to make these movements. They are designed to withstand a long lifespan and are powered through the engine in order to operate. However, like other mechanical parts, the differentials experience wear and tear over time.

During a differential service, a certified technician will inspect the differential fluid that is used to lubricate the part, and also determine what repairs are needed. This inspection will include the u-joints that are found in your differential. If your differential is beyond repair, the technician will replace them with genuine Chevrolet and ACDelco parts.

Why should I have it done?

The function of your differential is unique, and it necessary for driving your Chevrolet on a regular basis. Although they can withstand a significant lifespan, it is important to have them serviced if you notice a noise coming from your wheels. By having them serviced, you can maximize their lifespan and save yourself more expensive repairs in the future.

What happens if I don’t do it now?

If you choose to not have a certified technician inspect your differentials after signs of repair, or even a maintenance service, then you can expect the damage to continue throughout the differentials. Over time, the u-joints will become excessively worn, and the lack of differential fluid will prevent your Chevrolet from appropriately turning. Ultimately, an ignored differential in need of repair can lock up while driving, forcing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and make it inoperable. This can happen anywhere, including traffic and major highways that can be dangerous.
